PRESIDENT’S REPORT, Season 2021/2022.
The 2021-2022 season was always going to be a challenging one. As a club, we had to deal with the restrictions imposed on us by COVID and its effects on the global community.
We again helped our local community by allowing the Alamein Community Centre to use our carpark and facilities during their rebuild.
We coped with all the restrictions set by the government and Bowls Vic and enjoyed what was a modified version of our usual bowls season.
Thanks to the great efforts of all our members, we enjoyed success on the greens and displayed a great welcoming attitude to the community and visitors.
We have made some significant improvements this year with the replacement of our top green. All going to plan, the green should be ready for the start of next season. We have installed solar panels which provide a great savings benefit to the club, both now and into the future.
We decided that in recognition of the many years of service to the club by Ken Lawrence to dedicate the bar to him. A sign, together with his photo, has been erected above the bar area.
I thank the many members who have generously donated their time to help maintain the club and its surrounds. This is always an ongoing job and the club would struggle without their consistent maintenance of the gardens and club facilities.
A big thanks to the committee for their efforts and support.
As President, I am very proud to be a part of this club. I have been privileged to witness and share in the input, friendship and participation of all club members.
Congratulations to Bev Stewart and Bob Dickson, our singles champions for this year.
